I really want to thank BlogAdda for being a blogging partner for the #SHEROESSummit which is why we actually got to attend the summit at all.
Now I know you, might be wondering what SHEROES exactly is, and I’m getting to that. But first, I want to tell you just who a ‘SHEROE’ is.
Who is a SHEROE?
It’s YOU, me and any other woman who you know who balance work and home and her life — yes we’re all heroes. I’ve known some quite remarkable women, who have known struggle and then eventually success because they didn’t give up, the were and are Sheroes.
And I’m sure you’ve known them too, or better yet, you are one of them!
What is SHEROES?
SHEROES describes themselves as :
This is who we are.
Every woman who makes a choice and makes it work for her is a SHERO.SHEROES – a career destination for women professionals, committed to career success and individual work-life fit.
SHEROES welcomes women professional across levels, stages and sectors to pro-actively access the largest OpportunityScape for women.
There is a diverse and large range of opportunities to pick from – these include opportunities with women friendly employers, flex friendly formats, mompreneur programs, partnership programs and more.
The SHEROES Community gets access to career resources, information and community sharing. SHEROES Mentors engage actively to help women attain career success on their own terms.
SHEROES is committed to enhancing the quality and quantity of opportunities for women and investing in women professionals through various phases of their career.”
But I wanted to add something more… to this definition of theirs on who they are:
They (Sheroes) are the change they wanted to see in the world. “
And isn’t it beautiful? We all keep telling ourselves, google inspirational quotes and you’ll see “Be The Change You Want To See In The World” and SHEROES actually does that, and does it right.
They’ve provided more than 10 lakh women till date — that’s not a small number, 10 lakh women sleep better at night, can support themselves and their families, through SHEROES.
The Good, Better and Best — At The Summit
The LLOYD-SHEROES Summit 2016 (Delhi) was their 4th (edition) and I can’t believe I never knew about this before! Ignorance is not bliss, ladies.
I and Samara walked in and were immediately given this cute little folder and our blogger tags.
And a woman came up to us and said “What do you do, are you working?” and we both shook our heads in a no and said, “we’re bloggers”.
So, this woman smiles, and says “So you are working then” and we both looked at each other and we lost our hearts to the environment of the Summit, whether you were a budding star or a well established north star, nobody looked down upon you!
There were a lot of women, willing to help other women, and that was just a sight to behold and we felt proud of SHEROES.
Pieces of advice we took with us back home
- Your mantra in life should be: How wonderful! even when things are not going your way because positivity attracts positivity.
- Chose to love what you do, until you can do what you love.
- Job, career, and calling: Job = doing things with hands, career = doing things with hands + head and calling = hands + head + heart.
- The future of work talks: some role reversals, reimagining roles of women, and flexible work timings with some pretty inspiring talks!
- How to get the perfect work-life balance in your life
What made a special place in our hearts
- Nithya Shanti’s talk
- The Director at LLOYD, Mr. Singhal really wants women to be empowered in workplaces. It showed in his talk, and it shows in his ad campaigns for the washing machines.
- The rejuvenating and extremely fun Yoga session
- The talks about future of work, which was just flat out interesting!
- networking time!
- Ms. Sairee’s time on the stage 😀
