DIY: Make Your Own Miracle Skin Toner

May 4, 2016

skin toner

Skin toners are really essential for any skin care routine to be considered complete. Skin toner effectively cleanses your skin while making it soft, supple and smooth. I’ve mentioned why toning is an essential part of an ideal skin care routine previously in this post.

And today, I’ve come up with a miracle recipe, one that I’ve been testing out on myself for more than six months now. And I’ve had great results with it. If you’ve been following this blog long enough, you’ll know that I (Jane) am a big fan of essential oils.

And I also love to play around with essential oils and make them into synergy blends.

Most common skin struggles that, most of us face daily are:

  • Acne
  • Black/White Heads
  • Chapped/Cracked Skin
  • Dry Acne
  • Itching/Inflammation
  • Open Pores
  • Scars

So I decided to make a skin toner that could combat all of these together, it was a challenge yes. But I’ve had good results so far. I’m pretty sure if you try it out, you will as well.

Here’s the list of things you’ll need to make this skin toner:

  1. Glass container
  2. 200 ml spray bottle
  3. Lavender Essential Oil
  4. Rose Essential Oil
  5. Peppermint Essential Oil
  6. Rose Water
  7. Drinking Water/Distilled Water

Preparation

You will be preparing this formulation in a glass container.  And it will take 48 hours to make this skin toner.

Method

  1. Take your 200ml spray bottle, and mentally divide this bottle into four parts.
  2. You need to pour drinking water until 1/4th of the bottle is left empty.
  3. Fill the rest of your bottle with rose water, shake the bottle to mix rose water and normal drinking water together.
  4. Now transfer this water to a glass container.
  5. Add 3 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil.
  6. Now add 5 drops of Lavender Essential Oil.
  7. And Lastly, add 2 drops of rose essential Oil.
  8. Blend well.
  9. And let it stay in a cool place for 48 hours.

After 48 hours (2 days) Shake this preparation well, and pour it back into your spray bottle. This skin toner expires in 3 months, so you better use it before that time period.

Why Have We Used These Essential Oils?

There’s a reason why I decided to use these particular essential oils:

Lavender Essential Oil

  • Fights Acne
  • Heals Chapped/Cracking Skin
  • Fights Dry Acne
  • Moisturises Dry Skin
  • Is Anti-Inflammatory
  • Shrinks Open Pores
  • Heals Marks and Scars
  • A Natural Skin Toner

Peppermint Essential Oil

  • Helps in reducing the occurrence of whiteheads.
  • Helps in keeping  pores unclogged to reduce blackheads.

Rose Essential Oil

  • It hydrates your skin.
  • Fights against dry acne.
  • Makes your skin glow.
  • Is a natural skin toner.
  • Helps in shrinking open pores.

My Experience

I’ve had a wonderful experience with this skin toner. Also, since I already had all the ingredients at home it was really easy to make and is cost effective.

I made it myself so I had the satisfaction of knowing there were no added chemicals, what so ever. Over the course of 6 months, my skin’s condition has definitely improved. I don’t have whiteheads anymore, except maybe once a month. Blackheads have decreased, but I think if I don’t scrub and exfoliate as often as I do they will re-surface. Most of my acne marks are gone except two that still remain (I got those from chicken pox, not acne), but have lightened.

And the one thing that I really love is people telling me that there’s a natural blush on my skin! And I would like to believe it’s because of this toner! I’ll still keep using this skin toner to find out if it will rid my face of the to chicken pox marks I have and further decrease blackheads. And then I’ll update my experience here.

If you decide to use it,then please tell me the results it had on you!
